I was going to ask God why He allowed people to live in poverty and homelessness, but didn't for fear He would ask me the same question.

Lakeland Habitat's 20 Years of Success

Our Mission:

Lakeland Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1990 with the mission of providing decent, simple, affordable housing for our neighbors in greater Lakeland.

Our Vision:

To provide a hand up to those who want to improve their lives and help them access the physical and financial tools to make the dream of homeownership a reality to broaden the type of programs offered by Habitat to focused on neighborhood revitalization.

What has LHFH done in 20 years?

  • We have partnered with thousands of families, volunteers, non-profit agencies, local governments, service agencies, college, university, and donors to transform the lives of LHFH homeowners, and many others who are touched by our ministry.
  • Ninety-seven percent (97%) of our partner families still own their LHFH homes.
  • Our ministry has doubled its impact and our efforts can now produce as many as 15 houses in a year.
  • In 2010, we completed our 200th home and have now provided housing for over 100 families in greater Lakeland which includes, Lakeland, Mulberry, Kathleen, Bradley, Medulla and 100 homes of Habitat families in Romania, Poland and Vietnam through our tithe program.
  • Over 800 people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including 502 children, now have safe affordable homes thanks to Lakeland Habitat.
  • We have expanded our ministry to include new programs to support our families while using only 3% of our budget for administration.
